Supported studio
Co-Art is a working art studio. You come in, you make your own work, and a mentor artist works beside you. This page explains how that works and what it costs.
Who it is for
Anyone who wants to make art and would like support to do it. You do not need experience. You do not need to have made art before.
Most people who come to Co-Art have NDIS funding. You can also come without NDIS funding and pay for sessions yourself.
What support looks like
- A mentor artist who works in the things you are interested in
- Time to work on what you want to make, at your own pace
- Help with materials, tools and techniques
- Tools and the workspace set up for how you work
- Help planning what you want to make next
- Chances to show your work, and to sell it
Support does not mean someone makes the work for you. The work is yours. Your name goes on it, and a share of every sale goes to you.
Using NDIS funding
If you are not sure whether your plan covers this, send us a message. We can talk it through with you or your support coordinator.
Questions
How often do I come in?
That is up to you. Some people come once a week, some come twice a month. You decide with your mentor artist, and you can change it later.
Can someone come with me?
Yes. Bring a support person, a family member or a friend, especially for the first visit.
What if I do not know what I want to make?
That is normal. Your mentor artist will try a few things with you until something feels right.
Do I have to sell my work?
No. You choose which works go on the website and which stay with you.
What happens to the money if my work sells?
A share of every sale goes directly to you. The rest supports the studio, the materials and the artists working here.
Is the studio accessible?
[Access details to be confirmed — step-free entry, accessible toilet, parking, quiet space.]
Come and have a look first.
You do not have to decide anything. Come and see the studio, meet the artists, and we can talk about what you might like to make.
